As we slowly tear into everything new about the Nexus S and Gingerbread, we're sure to come across a slew of little things that add to Android. 4.0-inch Super AMOLED display and a decent camera are ones of them. The Nexus S, just like Samsung Galaxy S phones, is an excellent media player. Multiple video codecs are supported by Nexus S, enabling users play hand-on videos of MPEG4, H.263, H.264, DivX, XviD, WMV, AVI, and 3GP format up to 800*480pix. The following guide helps you enjoy more out of the Nexus One phone by introducing a way putting your DVD and Blu-ray to Nexus S phone. Let’s start with BD and DVD to Nexus S conversion now.
Required hardware: Mac with an external Blu-ray Disc Drive
Required software: Pavtube Mac Blu-ray Ripper software
The software is recommended as a best tool to help you stream Blu-ray movies and DVDs to your newly bought Nexus S. The Pavtube Mac Blu-Ray Ripper software is able to rip the all the Blu-ray movies including latest released Inception, Eclipse, Toy Story 3, etc, and will never let you encounter troubles in audio and video sync. You may download and install trial of Pavtube Blu-Ray to Nexus S Converter and try it out. A step-by-step guide is here for your reference:
Step 1: Run the Mac Blu-ray to Nexus S Converter, and import source Blu-ray/ DVD movies
Hook the BD drive to your Mac. Run the Mac Blu-ray Ripper software, Click to “BD/DVD Folder” to import Blu-ray disc from external BD drive, DVD from in-laid optical drive. It takes a few seconds to decrypt and load your Blu-ray movie from target BD drive. Here I take Inception Blu-ray for example:
When all the movie clips are loaded to file list, check the main movie and leave the unwanted files unchecked. The main movie is distinguished by its length (duration). So check the longest Title. You could view it in preview window.
You can select audio track and subtitle (if necessary) for Blu-ray and DVD movie clips. Click on the Audio box and select an audio track with desired language. Set subtitles in the same way.
Step 2. Set a proper format BD/DVD to Nexus S conversion.
Click the “Format” bar to choose export format. For Nexus S, appropriate formats are H.264, H.263 and MPEG-4 encoded MP4. Personally I suggest you follow “Common Video”>> “H.264 Video (*.mp4). H.264 video contents are highly-compressed thus take up less storage. The Blu-ray Disc Ripper software does output 1080p HD video formats, which are good for HTPC and HD media players, but not the Nexus S.
Step 3. Set resolution and bitrate for putting Blu-ray/DVD to Nexus S
There’s a tips for Blu-ray to Nexus S conversion. To maintain full screen display on Nexus S, you can lick on "Settings" button and find video “Size” in Settings window and input 800*480. And set “low quality” or “900” in “Bitrate” for video.
Step 4: Rip and put Blu-ray/ DVD movies to Nexus S
Click the big button “Convert” to start converting video to Nexus S compatible video format via using Mac Blu-ray to Nexus S Converter. Once the conversion task is done, you can click “Open” button and steam the movies to Nexus S at ease. A thumbnail of ripped movie Inception Blu-ray:
Tip 1: The Mac Blu-ray Ripper is able to save your customized settings as new templete. Simply click “Save As” in Step 3 to save your settings and the next time you wanna rip Blu-ray/DVD to Nexus S, just click “Format” bar and find the format in “Custom” template.
