How to convert AVCHD/AVCHD Lite MTS/M2TS to MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4?

Step 1. Free download AVCHD to MPEG Video Converter, install and launch the program.

Once you run it, click "Add Video" or "Add from folder" button to load the MTS/M2TS files you’d like to convert. When the MTS/M2TS footages are loaded to the program, you can view the videos from the Preview window. Simply select an item and click the “Play” button. When the video is playing, you may take snapshot when it plays to your favorable frame. Simply click the “Snapshoot” button.

Step 2. Select MPEG as output format for playing and editing.

Click on “Format”, and select output format from the drop-down list. MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 encoded formats are available. Step 3. Set output location for generated MPEG files.

Do not forget to specify a folder to save the converted MPEG files. Simply click the small folder icon next to “Output” field and specify an output folder to save converted files. And make sure there is enough space for saving the output files.

Step 4: Start converting MTS to MPEG format.

After the above steps are done, you can click “Convert” button to convert M2TS to MPEG formats (*.mpg, *.mp4, *.ts, etc.). Tip . Click “Settings” button to set the bit rate, frame rate, channels, sampling rate to desired values. Notice that you can not “convert up” video quality. If you selected HD Video in Step 2, we advise you to adjust the A/V parameters to be the same with source MTS footage so as to bear least quality loss at proper file size. When I convert MTS to MPEG-2 HD Video (*.mpg), and set “high quality” (18,000kbps) as video bit rate, the video quality I get is much better than commercial DVDs. The lower bit rate you set, the smaller file size you get, the lower video quality it outputs.
