VOB (Video Object) is the container format in DVD-Video media. VOB can contain digital video, digital audio, subtitles, DVD menus and navigation contents multiplexed together into a stream form. Second, VOB is basically the mpeg-2 video file stored in the Video_TS folder on DVD. A video file like VOB usually contains one or more audio tracks and subtitle tracks, which are multiplexed together into a stream form. So, it is not an ideal format for editing purposes.
In addition, comparing to VOB, DNxHD will work much better in Davinci Resolve. So if you want to edit VOB in Davinci Resolve smoothly, you'd better convert AVI to DNxHD with a video converter.
