OBS is open source screen capture software and completely free to use without restrictions. OBS supports both streaming and recording in high definition, with no restrictions on the number or length of your creations. You can stream live to Twitch or YouTubs gaming, save projects and come back to them later, or encode your footage in FLV format and save it locally. But if you record video to FLV video, you will likely encounter OBS video editing issues in Sony Vegas Pro.
Firstly, Sony Vegas Pro doesn't support FLV format so you can't import OBS FLV recordings to Sony Vegas. Secondly, OBS often records videos with variable framerates but Sony Vegas Pro doesn't work with videos that have variable framerates, and end up having audio sync and audio drifting problems. For example, people can't import OBS FLV video to Sony Vegas Pro. Every time when they import it, it shows up as a grey image. All these issues together can be solved today in this article with the following two ways.
Method 1: Set to Record Videos in Constant Frame Rate mode in OBS for Sony Vegas
OBS records video files in VFR by defaut. VFR is a very efficient recording method which allows you to get small file sizes with the maximum FPS which the recording target can obtain. For example, even though you select "60" FPS at the video settings, you will get a "variable 40FPS video" if you are able to get only 40FPS while recording. But many NLE software including Vegas Pro doesn't support a VFR video. In this case, you have to choose to record video with CFR. CFR means that if you select "60" FPS with the CFR option, you will normally get a "constant 60FPS video".
To switch to Constant Frame Rate mode, just click video settings to keep "Variable Frame rate (VFR)" unchecked. In addition, in video settings, you also can set the record video to MP4 container. Sony Vegas Pro doesn't support OBS FLV video but support OBS MP4 recordings.
