H.265, the full name is High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) is the new successor to Advanced Video Coding (AVC) also known as H.264. It is more advanced than H.264 in several ways. The libde265 team released a production version of the popular VLC media player for Windows capable to play HEVC 4K Ultra HD video. Like the Mac OS X version released before VLC plays HEVC video in 4K Ultra HD resolution at a frame rate of 30 fps on a Windows PC. The minimum system requirements for viewing 4K UHD video is a PC with an Intel or AMD CPU equivalent to
Intel Core i7 with 4 cores, running at 2.3GHz.
